The environment

As a leading construction and property consultant Cyril Sweett is highly aware that our commercial activities and the advice that we offer clients carry an economic, social and environmental impact. Cyril Sweett therefore adopts an environmentally considerate, socially responsible and ethical approach to the way we conduct business. As such, we are committed to minimising any adverse environmental impact and maximising the opportunities for environmental enhancement, both in our own internal practices and in our client dealings.

It is our aim to help combat climate change and through our CSR programme we have put in place a number of environmental initiatives across the whole of our office network. We are also reviewing our environmental management system with the aim of IS0 14001 Certification.

This year we invested in video teleconferencing and now all of offices have the ability to use this facility when conducting meetings therefore reducing inter-office travel in order to curb emissions resulting from corporate travel. In order to promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce environmental pollution, Cyril Sweett offer the benefits of the Department of Transport’s Cycle to Work scheme. This is available to all employees and supports those who would like a more economical mode of travel by offering cycles and cyclists’ safety equipment to employees as a tax-free benefit.

We aim to achieve the most economical use of all materials, supplies and energy, using renewable or recyclable materials and products wherever possible. Our environmental initiatives to date include:-

turning off lighting and heating when not required
turning up air conditiioning temperature
turning off printers and pc’s ensuring they are not left on overnight. All other electrical equipment is turned off when not in use
use of double-sided copying where possible and re-use of unwanted documents for scrap paper
provision of collection bins for recycling paper in office areas
recycling metal, plastics, glass bottles and batteries
recycling of printer toner cartridges

Cyril Sweett is committed to developing awareness of environmental matters by providing information, training and support for employees.
