carbon reduction

View projects

From April 2010, all UK organisations who annually consume more than 6,000MWh of electricity, equating to approximately £500,000 will be subject to the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) energy efficiency scheme. This will affect public and private organisations, with potential impacts on corporate reputation. Organisations that fall under the regime will be required to purchase carbon allowances, to reflect the annual carbon emissions resulting from their energy use. The credits will initially cost £12 per tonne, with anticipated price rises from 2013.

Cyril Sweett has a range of services to assist organisations with the CRC; from supporting CRC compliance through to implementing building improvement programmes. We can work with your organisation's energy management team/advisors to ensure compliance, and develop a low cost improvement strategy for your portfolio.

The scope of our service includes:-

  • establishing and maintaining energy use database for the property portfolio
  • updates for property additions, disposals and refurbishments
  • compliance reporting
  • annual credit requirement statements
  • developing an improvement strategy for the portfolio
  • business case assessments including carbon credit saving, energy saving, capital allowances, life cycle and pay back analysis and cost planning for alternative solutions
