The
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
will launch today, ground breaking research
conducted by Cyril Sweett’s sustainability
experts on the practical steps to reduce
carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency
for existing commercial buildings.
The research, commissioned by the RICS,
identifies that although there may have
been reluctance in the past to adopt energy
efficiency measures in existing buildings,
even the smallest changes to improving the
environmental performance of buildings can
have positive results. For example, upgrading
from single glazing to double low-e glass
can generate a 70% improvement in the thermal
performance of the glazed surfaces.
