A
team of 20 from Cyril Sweett’s
London office today swapped
their consultancy skills for
an environmental challenge to
help children in North Beckton
Primary School. The volunteering
day was part of the “London
better together day” an
initiative of Business in the
Community which was carried
out on Friday 15th June 2007.
The
team completely transformed
the primary school gardens and
created wider walkways to allow
for easy wheelchair access.
The school was designed as an
inclusive mainstream school,
with up to 27 places reserved
for allocation to children with
severe physical disabilities
or complex medical conditions
so the wheelchair access will
be hugely beneficial.
Francis Ives, Chairman of Cyril
Sweett, one of the volunteers,
said: “There was such
a wonderful community spirit
during the day and the whole
team felt a real sense of achievement
after completing the challenge.
We really are glad to support
volunteering opportunities which
provide a rewarding challenge
for employees as part of our
wider corporate social responsibility
programme.
Emily Lockhart, one of the
willing volunteers, said: “Everyone
in the team had so much energy
and enthusiasm for rolling up
their sleeves and getting the
job done. The team worked so
hard all day transforming the
playground by cutting back hedges,
digging up flower beds, fixing
and painting a wooden climbing
house, widening walkways, painting
the facade of the school and
generally tidying up.”
