| Cyril
Sweett is delighted to announce
their recent appointment, in
partnership withDrees &
Sommer, their German partner
company. The five to seven year
commission is to provide consultancy
services to the Scottish Executive
in the form of programme management
support to deliver a portfolio
of major public transport infrastructure
projects in Scotland. The commission
requires a variety of management
activities including project
and planning services, cost
management, risk and value,
quality management and contract
and procurement advice.
The projects are funded substantially
by the Scottish Executive.
Gordon Blackwood, Regional Operations
Director for Scotland said “We
are proud to be selected for
this prestigious project and
excited about being able to
combine our UK experience with
our partner Drees & Sommer’s
experience of working in German
rail.”
Ralf Schwiede, Deputy Chairman
of Drees & Sommer AG, sees
this as confirmation of the
common strategy. “With
this contract, we have already
exceeded goals set jointly with
Cyril Sweett for the year 2005”,
said Schwiede.
The transport projects are all
at various stages of completion,
varying from feasibility, Parliamentary
approval, detailed design, procurement
and also in construction to
‘near completion’.
The portfolio of transport projects
comprises:
1. Edinburgh Airport Rail Link
2. Waverley Station Re-development
(Phase 1)
3. Larkhall Milngavie
4. Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link
5. Borders Railway
6. Edinburgh Trams Network
7. Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine
Rail Link
8. Haymarket Interchange Redevelopment
9. Glasgow Airport Rail Link
The projects involve an investment
by the Scottish Government of
approaching £2bn over
the next five to seven years
and each project has or will
have its own Promoter and project
team.
Cyril Sweett and Drees &
Sommer’s role is to help
manage the interfaces both between
the projects and with other
construction works (whether
planned or being undertaken
concurrently) and the many different
stakeholders. Also, Cyril Sweett
will provide regular reports
and feedback to the Scottish
Executive of the progress and
performance of the projects
and of the overall programme.
