learning and development

We endeavour to be an employer of choice, investing in the learning, development and training of all our employees to enable them to forward their careers as far as their talent and ambition will take them.  This is an area that requires constant attention and we are committed to delivering our policy of continually improving the opportunities available to all our people.

Employees have their own individual learning plan which is set each year as part of our Appraisal Planning programme.  More importantly the plan is reviewed each month through One-to-One meetings.

To equip staff to develop and enhance their skills and behaviours, we have a comprehensive learning, development and training programme which includes a spectrum of subjects covering leadership and management, personal effectiveness, IT and systems, professional and technical and statutory and mandatory learning.

In 2008 we introduced our very first accredited leadership/management programme - Developing the Modern Manager - enabling key line managers to explore a range of leadership and management methodologies and at the same time be awarded with an externally recognised management qualification.  Early in 2009 we launched the Business Leaders of the Future programme for the Directors.  Both programmes allow individuals to enhance their expertise and experience necessary to be our leaders and managers of tomorrow.

Individuality - we take an all embracing view of supporting individual improvement including sponsorship for a wide range of professional qualifications, ranging from CPD initiatives, APC, APMP, IPM, BSc, MSc and MBA.
